When we say "no one gets left behind" we really mean it.
There has been an incredible outpouring of support from communities across South Manchester for our latest initiative, Refugee Run Club. Volunteers from MileShyClub groups have stepped forward to support the weekly runs, while local running communities have gone above and beyond to help our participants feel welcome and included.
Bramhall parkrun alone has organised two large collections of men's sportswear, and our friends at New Balance generously donated brand-new running kit. The response has been truly overwhelming, and we are enormously grateful to everyone who has contributed. This weekend some of our volunteers and our Refugee Run Club runners visited Bramhall parkrun to thank the volunteers and runners who have shown such kindness and generosity.
As our Founder and CEO, Jane Dennison, told the group one evening: "The community aren't just giving you clothes for your back and shoes for your feet. They're giving you the knowledge that people really do care about you and wish you well."
We think that's a sentiment we can all share.
